Outline Background System Block Diagram Sensor Alternative Data Transfer Alternatives Proposed MDR Specification

Background Designing Prototype for Prof. Bittman of the Biology Department. Prototype will help further the understanding of Circadian Rhythms. Circadian Rhythms.

Background

Motivation Help further the understanding of Circadian Rhythms. Help to improve medical science. Designing a system that will provide our client balance of efficiency and cost.

Deliverables functioning prototype that fulfills the following requirements: A solution that is balance between cost functionality. A sterile housing for the prototype. Sampling rate of every minutes. The ability to measure either core or subcutaneous temperature. Software to accompany the prototype. Allow client to control the prototypes settings for sample rate, sleep timer, ect. Provide the client with the temperature in the form of spreadsheet. A docking mechanism and connecting cables will also be provided to interface the prototype with the software. Necessary documentation will be provided on how to use the prototype and accompanying software.

Block Diagram Design: Temperature sensor equip with its own memory that will connect to PC in order to transfer data.

Sensing Design Alternatives InfraRed Sensing Ultrasonic Sensing Using sound wave to high to be audible by a human ear Bouncing them off matter and analyzing velocity Analyze temperature using boundary integrated equations Cheap in a cost Difficult math iButton

Proposed MDR Specification Working Outside the Can Open canister with breaking internal electronics (over come fail-safe). Find a way to get the prototype to retain a contact between the required metal lid and base. Make sure the prototype can fit inside the mouse without harming it. Assure it is still accurate outside its native housing. Data Transfer Client will be able to at least remove the prototype to extract data, and depending on amount of time left possibly a more complex method of data transfer.
