Preliminary Design Review Week 6 Group A3: HMS “Bloodhound” Matt Morris Matt Prygoski Jay Slaggert Fred Thwaites Dan Zibton Thursday March 13, 2008

1. Continue Interface with Microcontroller - GPS System - Motors 2. Build First Generation Prototype - Build to-scale model - Create a Mast and Boom similar to the one that will be used on final prototype Previous Week’s Action Items

Previous Week’s Action Item #2 Construct First Generation Prototype

Prototype Highlights -Body built using plywood -Mast and boom built out of 1.5” diameter PVC -Width = 18” -Length = 24” -Total Weight = lb -Total Weight if Built Using HDPE = lb Construct First Generation Prototype Previous Week’s Action Item #2

Current Status of Concept Second Generation CAD Model Key Features: - Rear Driven Wheels/Front Casters - PVC Boom with Infrared Sensors - HDPE Body -GPS Navigation System Currently On Schedule No Showstoppers

Second Generation CAD Model

Next Week’s Action Items 1.Begin Building Boom and Mast for Final Prototype -Build using PVC acquired from Loews -Specs for the Design Height = 30” Width = 12” 2. Order Components for Drive System -Wheels and Casters have been acquired -Motor, Drive Shafts, and Ball Bearings will be chosen and purchased.

Next Week’s Action Item #2 Motors -Two Motors that will Power the Rear Wheels -Motor Specs: ω = 225 rpm T = 1 N-m Drive Shaft and Ball Bearings -Drive Shaft will be chosen once it has been decided how to connect wheels and motor output. -Ball Bearings will be chosen based on Drive Shaft Diameter. -Pillow Block Bearings will most likely be used.
