2 EMERSION QA System  To support the needs of an Education Model with Industry Ethos which takes account of the Chinese educational system culture.  To provide a framework for continuous improvement of all aspects of the educational experience.

3 EMERSION QA System Requirements  Enshrine individual and collective responsibility.  Include all stakeholders.  Focus on continuous improvement.  Transparency and public accountability.  International and professional benchmarking.  Emphasis on staff training and development.

4 Individual and collective responsibility  Responsibility of the individual teacher Quality of their course (or courses). Integration of course with the rest of the programme.  Collective responsibility of all programme staff Teamwork. Team collaboration to ensure the overall quality of the programme.

5 Include all stakeholders  Stakeholders Teachers, students, management, industry. Constructive role in the operation of the programme. Feedback from external industry representative is important.

6 Focus on continuous improvement  Monitoring and evaluation of subject/component delivery.  Ensuring effectiveness of curriculum.  Ensuring effectiveness of quality assurance system.  Feedback from peer group and stakeholders.  Teamwork.

7 Focus on continuous improvement  Periodic review of model and its effectiveness. National and international experts  Areas for review Student experience. Effectiveness of quality assurance system. Effectiveness of curriculum. Industrial relevance.  Measures of performance  Monitoring of performance Feedback data from peer groups and stakeholders.  Quality action plan Based on feedback data. Correct deficiencies and improve quality. Implemented by programme team.

8 Transparency and public accountability  Transparency QA procedures freely communicated and transparent to all stakeholders.  Public accountability Publication of peer group periodic reviews of the programme.

9 International and professional benchmarking  Reference to international benchmarks and standards Demonstrate level of achievement of students. Ensure that the programme meets global standards.  International externals Local and international academic external examiners. Local and international industry external examiners.
