Cristian Nicolau Agricultural Support Services - Romania Project Value 18 mil. USD (11 mil. IBRD Loan) Components: -Applied Research & Extension -Institutional Building

Cristian Nicolau Agricultural Support Services Project Objectives: 1 to provide immediately needed technology, information and training for private farmers to increase their agriculture productivity, sustainability and income; 2 to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness and client relevance in management of research and extension.

Cristian Nicolau Agricultural Support Services The applied research & extension component is applying a Competitive Grant Scheme -125 projects are finances (management, marketing and agribusiness, field crops, horticulture, livestock); -the 125 projects receive 25% percent of the total sum upon signing the Grant Agreement; -the rest of the funds are disbursed upon approval of the periodic progress report.

Cristian Nicolau Management Information System the system is monitored through a MIS system designed by me using MS Access; the system records all parameters of the CGS financed projects (activities, deadlines, procurement, financial progress) the system have the capability of monitoring that the “things are done right” My interest is to create a basis (computerized) to assess if the “right things were done”

Cristian Nicolau Monitoring Focus Monitoring focus  technology transfer Type of activities accounted for technology transfer: 1 Training Courses; 2 On farm demonstrations; 3 Publications – brochures, leaflets etc.

Cristian Nicolau Evaluation Now is done by using a 6 points questionaire: list the technologies forwarded to the farmers; number of farmers who applied in their own farms the technologies proposed in your project; What is the area / what is the number of animals upon which the technologies were applied; How many partnerships were formed as a result of your project (farmer associations, number of members, etc); What are the economic effects appeared as a result of applying the technologies proposed in your project, in respect with the farmers who applied them (increase of productivity, decrease of production costs, increase of income, etc). Please enter actual data (the productivity increased from X before the project to Y after applying the proposed technologies).
