Action Introduction: The teacher will play the song “Somewhere over the rainbow” in order to engage the children in the topic of Light and colours. Playground: Children explore a prism and an artificial light source and sunlight.

Action The children will explore the properties of white light using a prism and sunlight as a light source. The children will then use monocromatic light source and shine through a prism. They will compare and contrast the differences.

White Light and Prism

Monochromatic Light and Prism

Operation

Goals The child will be enabled to: recognise that white light consists of a combination of different colours. explore the difference between monochromatic light and sunlight using a prism.
