NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT Before submitting The Request for Scholarship Award Form NCAA Disclosure Reports (APR, GSR, Fed. Grad. Rates) must be sent to the PSA BEFORE they sign an NLI the Disclosure Reports and blindcopy Carly on the – NLI’s will not be issued unless this is done Verify with Admissions that prospect is admissible Verify with prospect that they have registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center New Legislation – Prospects must be registered with the Eligibility Center and on BC’s IRL to be eligible to sign an NLI
NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT Requesting the NLI and Scholarship Contract Submit a completed Flag/De-Flag Form AND; Submit the Request for Scholarship Award Form to Compliance by October 26, 2007 All information on the form needs to be accurate and spelled correctly Please include the birth date and middle initial The NLI and scholarship contracts will be generated by Compliance and Student-Services. You will receive the scholarship contracts back on November 7, 2007 to be reviewed and signed The NLI and scholarship contracts must be back to Compliance by November 9, 2007 to be sent out.
NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT REMINDERS: Parent or Guardian must sign the NLI if the prospect is under the age of 21. The NLI must be accompanied by a financial aid agreement from the institution. Institutional staff members may make unlimited phone calls on the initial date for signing the NLI and during the two days immediately following the initial signing date WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14 THROUGH FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16 DEAD PERIOD MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2007 THRU THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2007 No Unofficial Visits on campus permitted Time Deadlines The prospect and parent/guardian must sign the NLI within 14 days from the date of issuance (ex. if dated Nov. 14, must be signed by Nov. 28) The institution must file the NLI with its conference office within 21 days of the final signature (ex. if signed Nov. 14, must be sent to ACC by Dec. 5)
NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT Announcement of Signings - Publicity released by an institution concerning a prospect’s commitment to attend the institution shall occur only after the prospect has signed the NLI and/or written offer of financial aid. Such communications (no limit on number or content) may be released to media forums at the institutions discretion. There are no limits on the number of occasions that an institution may release such information An institution is prohibited from purchasing or receiving commercial advertising to be used to identify a prospect by name or picture. Press Conference - Institutional press conferences, receptions, dinners, etc. held for the purpose of making such an announcement are expressly prohibited.
NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT Announcement of All-signings - One-Time Exception: An institution may make one announcement on the institutions campus for the sole purpose of presenting to the media the names of all prospects that signed an NLI – NO PROSPECTS (FAMILY/FRIENDS) MAY BE IN ATTENDANCE. Attendance at Signings: Institutional staff members are PROHIBITED from being in attendance when a prospect accepts an offer made by an institution
