The Mountain Environment Year 6 QCA 15 Mrs. Figueira

Objectives To learn about different types of environments and specifically a mountain one about the world distribution of major mountain areas to use globes and atlases about weather patterns in different parts of the world

W.I.L.F A topic book which shows that you have understood about some of the different mountain ranges in the world That you understand about the types of weather these ranges experience That you understand that the weather and location affects the lives of those living in these environments

What is a mountain environment? Where are mountain environments found?

Use an atlas to find ; The main mountain ranges in the world. Mark them on your own map.

What are these places like? Make a list of some of the characteristics of mountain ranges.

How does the weather compare in each of these places? Choose 2 different mountain ranges in very different parts of the world and compare the weather characteristics.

What effect does the weather have on tourism?

What would I need to do to plan a camping holiday in this area?
