What to Bring Clothing Accessories

What to Bring Extras Alarm clock Inexpensive or disposable camera (optional), label camera with your name! Music, costumes, props or other items needed for the Talent Show or Dances Personal toiletry items (including contact solution, if needed) Required prescriptions and/or over- the-counter medicine Towels and soap Money for pizza, shopping, soda, etc. Notebook and pens Favorite pillow, if desired

What Not to Bring bed linens, blankets, pillows - they are provided No valuables (expensive cameras, jewelry, laptops or radios)

What Not to Wear Dress Code

When You Arrive Cars and buses may unload on the side of Sellery Hall in the parking lot between Dayton Street and Johnson Street. A Youth Leader Council member will be there to greet you

Registration Chaperones register their county delegations at the conference headquarters in Sellery Hall. They’ll give you a lanyard with nametag & room key and wrist band for meals. Always wear your nametag, room key, and wrist band!!! Nametag at all times unlike the person on the far right!!

Monday Afternoon Tours Meet outside in the green space next to Gordon Commons and Dayton Street at 2:30pm for your tour. Chazen Museum of Art State Capitol Kohl CenterUW-Madison Campus

Where will you be staying? Sellery Hall is a UW Madison dormitory on the southeast corner of campus. Sellery Hall 821 West Johnson Street

Dorm Life Dorm rooms have two beds, you will be sharing a room with another delegate from your county, if possible. Rooms are air-conditioned and each has a refrigerator. The dorm has community- style bathrooms.

Cafeteria Gordon Commons cafeteria is next door to Sellery Hall. Delegates need to wear their wristbands to eat. All you can eat!! A vegetarian entrée and many fresh veggies and fruits will be available.

Conference Rules No SAD (smoking, alcohol, drugs) Follow dorm rules Keep windows, screens closed Don’t misuse fire alarms Honor curfew, lights-out times Don’t use telephones between 11 pm and 7am. Dress appropriately

First Aid & Emergency Issues Please remember to drink enough water to stay healthy! First Aid is available 24 hours a day in 4-H Headquarters Emergency transportation is available If you are feeling ill, please inform a chaperone or any other person so they can obtain assistance for you

Safety Precautions Off Limits after Dark! Whenever away from the conference site, you need to be in a group of at least 3 people DO NOT give any money or talk to homeless people!! Street Smart Issues

Safety Precautions Volunteer Coordinators will direct conference traffic. Please follow the conference route. Don’t be insulted; Madison drivers are notoriously dangerous. Warning: traffic doesn’t always stop for red lights Please wait for pedestrian cross signals Traffic Safety Issues

Free Time Hang out with old friends and meet some awesome 4-H members from around the state!

Free Time Free time is also when County Delegation Photos are taken. Talk with your county to decide what kind of attire to wear. Everyone will receive a delegation photo Thursday before returning home.

Free Time Free time includes all sorts of fun activities like sand volleyball, themed dances, movie nights, cards, games, and fun runs!

Gathering for Seminars Meet in the green space next to Gordon Commons next to Dayton Street before walking or boarding a bus to seminars. YLC members will be holding up signs for you to find your seminar group and leading the groups to seminar classrooms or sites.

Seminars Seminars will connect you with people, technology, animals or the frigid waters of Lake Mendota!

Service Learning Seminars For the first time at conference, delegates will attend a service learning seminar on Tuesday during one of the seminar slots. Learn a new skill… Help the community… AND BRING IT BACK TO YOUR COUNTY!

Memorial Union Theatre All assemblies and many seminars are held in the Memorial Union, four blocks from the dormitory. Rides are available for those who need them.

Talent Show application forms are due April 9 th. Auditions for the Talent Show will be held on Monday and Tuesday. Selections will be announced Wednesday morning. Talent Show rehearsal will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Union Theatre. Wednesday Night Talent Show

State Groups The YLC: –Wears matching polo shirts –Greets groups upon arrival –Emcees assemblies –Leads groups to seminars –Serves as a resource for questions Youth Leader Council

Chaperones The Chaperones: –Register the group –Hand out Conference T-shirts, keys, nametags, photos and wristbands –Serve as seminar presiders –Assist with operational duties to ensure the conference runs smoothly –Support and help delegates

Volunteer Coordinators (VCs) The VCs: –Help coordinate the conference on-site –Serve as a resource for chaperones –Ensure safety

When You Leave Please have your room cleaned and remember to be packed before the Thursday morning assembly. Don’t forget to send your Thank You letters. Share your Conference experience with your county!
