HED stands for: -Howardites, which are mixtures of: -Eucrites (basaltic lava flows) -Diogenites (orthopyroxenites) The howardites contain rock and mineral fragments, and impact-produced glasses The glass fragments and spherules record the compositions of a wide range of lithologies on Vesta
