A Few Opening Comments (I) Let’s define Biblical darkness. Let’s define Biblical darkness. 1. It can refer to sin and worldly practices. 2. It can refer to seasons of perplexity and despair in the lives of God’s saints. Light shines in the darkness – when darkness comes, God has removed the light. Light shines in the darkness – when darkness comes, God has removed the light. God always has a specific purpose for allowing darkness. God always has a specific purpose for allowing darkness.

A Few Opening Comments (II) The darkness will only last as long as it takes for the Lord to accomplish to His purpose. The darkness will only last as long as it takes for the Lord to accomplish to His purpose. God uses the darkness to draw us closer to Himself and to teach us His ways and how to rely solely on Him. God uses the darkness to draw us closer to Himself and to teach us His ways and how to rely solely on Him. In the darkness, I learn some lessons that I would not otherwise learn. In the darkness, I learn some lessons that I would not otherwise learn. Whatever I learn in the darkness, I am to share with others. Whatever I learn in the darkness, I am to share with others.

What I Must Know About God The Key to getting through the darkness is knowing who God is… The Key to getting through the darkness is knowing who God is… 1. My God is Sovereign. 2. My God is in control of all things. 3. My God knows exactly where I am. 4. My God is with me at all times. 5. My God is faithful.

Things we don’t do… 1. Don’t automatically assume that the darkness has been allowed into your life because of sin. Consider who is being referred to in v.10. Consider who is being referred to in v Don’t get angry and don’t get bitter. This refers to those individuals involved in your situation. This refers to those individuals involved in your situation. But this also refers to God Himself. But this also refers to God Himself.

Things we don’t do… (II) 3. Don’t get busy with anything and everything you can find to do. 4. Don’t give up and don’t quit. 5. Don’t ever “kindle your own fire”. Consider Abraham, Moses and David… Consider Abraham, Moses and David…

Things We Keep Doing… “Keep Doing” implies that we are already doing these things. “Keep Doing” implies that we are already doing these things. If you are not in the habit of doing these things, you had better start… If you are not in the habit of doing these things, you had better start… 1. Keep praying. 2. Keep meditating on the word of God. This is how I get my direction. This is how I get my direction. This is how I get refreshed. This is how I get refreshed.

Things We Keep Doing… (II) This is how I prosper and have great success. This is how I prosper and have great success. This is how I hear the voice of my loving heavenly Father. This is how I hear the voice of my loving heavenly Father. 3. Keep crying out to the Lord. 4. Keep being faithful to serve the Lord in whatever He calls you to do. 5. Keep trusting in “the name of the LORD” Let’s be careful about what this means Let’s be careful about what this means

Things We Keep Doing… (III) 6. Keep waiting for God’s deliverance. It’s coming… but make sure you understand what this means! It’s coming… but make sure you understand what this means! 7. Keep clinging to the promises that God has made you. 8. Keep sharing what God is doing in your life. Consider the remaining apostles in the boat – where do you think their eyes were focused? Consider the remaining apostles in the boat – where do you think their eyes were focused?

Our Friend Job… Job new much more than you think… Job new much more than you think… While he didn’t fully understand why God allowed what happened to him, he better understood God’s ways. While he didn’t fully understand why God allowed what happened to him, he better understood God’s ways. Names in the Scripture always have meaning and often speak of the character of the one bearing the name.
