European Computer Driving Licence Module 3 – Word Processing Chapter 3.4 – Working With Many Documents

Using a template – part 1 ZTo use a Word template, from the File menu select New ZThe Task Pane appears ZIn the Templates section, select On my computer – the Templates window will appear ZSelect the category and then the template you require ZClick on OK

Using a template – part 2 ZYou can add your company name, your name etc and save it as a template to be used again ZClick on File, Save As – type in a new name and change the document type to Document template ZClick on Save to save your customised template ZIt will appear in the General templates next time you click on File New and select a template from your computer!

Copying text between documents ZMake sure both documents are open ZSelect the text you want to copy and click Copy icon ZClick on the taskbar button for the other document ZMove the insertion point to where you want the copied text to appear ZClick the Paste icon ZUse Format Painter to make it look like the rest of the text Faxtanzania.doc Newitinerary.doc

Deleting/Moving text ZSelect the text you want to delete ZPress the Delete key or the Backspace key ZTo move the text to another document, from the Edit menu select Cut ZOpen the second document ZMove the insertion point to the required place then select Paste from the Edit menu

Inserting symbols ZMove the insertion point to the required place ZFrom the Insert menu, select Symbol ZIn the Font box, select Wingdings ZScroll down until you see a symbol you like ZClick on it to select it and click on the Insert button

Special Characters ZIn the Insert symbol box, click on the Special Characters tab ZA list of special characters will appear ZClick on the one you want then click on the Insert button
