How to register To register for IB 4103/ECON 4103 for the Fall semester of 2007, you must do two things: 1.Register for Fall semester courses at ASU. You can now register online, provided that you have no holds. 2.Log on to Blackboard 6, the course management system used for this online course. Course Prerequisites You must have previously taken and passed the following classes in order to take this course: ECON 2313 (principles of macroeconomics) ECON 2323 (principles of microeconomics). The following requirements apply to Business majors only: To be eligible to enroll in any upper division courses, business majors must satisfy the following enrollment requirements: (1) Complete 54 hours of GenEd requirements and lower level Business math requirements; (2) complete the following lower level courses: ENG 1003, ENG 1013 and ECON 2113.

Course Requirements You, the student, are asked to complete the assigned readings in the textbook and review the content available at the course website.

The course content is mostly formatted using Microsoft Office products, though there is some html (web) content as well. Content Formatting

The course requirements include the following (see the course outline for greater detail): three proctored examinations three homework assignments, and quizzes to be taken at the end of each chapter. [The quizzes are timed and administered by computer. þYou can complete virtually all the work required on your home computer. [The obvious exception to this is the proctored examinations.] þ You can access course content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the term. þ The technology facilitates interaction with other students. Students can participate in discussions and chats at their own initiative although I have found these capabilities are rarely used. þYou may send your queries or complaints to the instructor via e- mail. þThere are no lectures. This puts a greater responsibility on the student to achieve comprehension of the material, material that most students find to be challenging. þThis course is not likely to be ideal for students who need the formal structure of a conventional classroom setting. þIf you have struggled with economics courses in the past, it is probably not be a good idea for you to take this class!
