What is the Internet The Internet is a network of millions of computers linked together by telephone lines, fiber optic cables, satellite, and microwave connections.

Who Started the Internet? The Internet was started by the United Sates Department of Defense in It allowed information to move freely around a military computer network. (Intranet)

What is the WWW? The World Wide Web, usually called “ the Web ”, is the part of the Internet where millions of Web pages containing text, images, and sound from people all over the world are connected.

What Can I Use Internet for? You can use the Web for research, business, entertainment, or personal interests. Some specific things people do on the Web are send , go shopping, find jobs, get the latest news, order a meal, and make travel plans.

What Services does the Internet Provide? Basic services: Electronic mail, or ; Access to the World Wide Web, Newsgroups, Mailing lists, File transfer from other computers(FTP), The capacity to log on to other computers. Discussions with other people using chat.
