Week 8 IT 29 Prefixes and suffixes (un-, dis-, -less) which reverse the meaning of the word This teacher led activity introduces some of the morphemes which reverse the meaning of the word. The children are shown a series of slides which show the stem word and they then have to choose which beginning or ending they are going to add to make the meaning of the word change. The children have an answer sheet (see next slide) which needs to be printed off before the lesson. There is an example question’ happy’ + ‘un’ makes the reverse meaning, ‘unhappy’. The children will see a pencil symbol appear which is their prompt to write and then give their answer to the group. Feedback is then given on the next click.
