Production Project Organization FCal1 Production Advancement Review February 20, Peter Loch University of Arizona Tucson, Arizona Three major contributions from the University of Arizona to the ATLAS FCal Construction Project: 1.Two electromagnetic modules FCal1A and FCal1C built on site; 2.Acquisition and testing of cold electronics (cold cables, summing boards) for all six FCal modules; 3.Final assembly of FCal1 modules on location at CERN; 1.Two electromagnetic modules FCal1A and FCal1C built on site; 2.Acquisition and testing of cold electronics (cold cables, summing boards) for all six FCal modules; 3.Final assembly of FCal1 modules on location at CERN; Each of these three “top level” projects is broken down into processes which have relations with each other. Each project breakdown is driven by preparation of parts and the assembly sequence.

Production Project Organization FCal1 Production Advancement Review February 20, Peter Loch University of Arizona Tucson, Arizona processes are organized in a tree-like structure; each process has a name and number; the process number is used to locate the process in the tree; processes include production, acceptance inspections, quality control, and storage (passive); each process is described in a process sheet; the process tree and all related information, including the process sheets, are going to be accessible on the web; processes are organized in a tree-like structure; each process has a name and number; the process number is used to locate the process in the tree; processes include production, acceptance inspections, quality control, and storage (passive); each process is described in a process sheet; the process tree and all related information, including the process sheets, are going to be accessible on the web; most complete description

Production Project Organization FCal1 Production Advancement Review February 20, Peter Loch University of Arizona Tucson, Arizona we think we have a pretty good understanding of the project break-down and the processes involved -> we know how to build the calorimeter; we have a way to formalize this understanding and document it -> we can communicate how we have built the calorimeter; we think we have a pretty good understanding of the project break-down and the processes involved -> we know how to build the calorimeter; we have a way to formalize this understanding and document it -> we can communicate how we have built the calorimeter;
