HITSP: Where we’ve been Where we are and Where we’re going John D. Halamka MD

Major Accomplishments CCD Lab Vocabularies Devices Family History Clinical Research Quality

The Interim Final Rule The IFR contains the majority of base standards recommended by HITSP Summaries - CCD Problem Lists - SNOMED-CT Medications - NCPDP Script 8.1, RxNorm Allergies - UNII Labs - HL , LOINC, UCUM, SNOMED-CT Immunizations - HL , CVX Biosurveillance - HL Public Health Reporting of Labs - HL

The Future Keep the community of experts engaged. Be kind to each other. Harmonize and commission standards based on clearly articulated priorities (Use cases v. meaningful use) Implement tools including vocabulary registries and easy to use sources for implementation guidance. Provide expert implementation advice. Use adoption as your success metric. Build progressively and keep it as simple as possible.

Thank you Today is a day to celebrate your accomplishments. Today is a day to thank all for a job well done - you’ve changed the course of IT history. Today is a day to re-energize as we prepare for the HITSP successor.
