Overview History Student Responses Program Activities Personnel Safety

History The Juneau Outdoor School provides an intense learning experience for children aged 8 to 18. Younger children enjoy the hands- on learning experience, while older children develop valuable leadership skills.

Student Responses Since 1999, 1200 students from elementary and high schools all over Alaska have attended the Juneau Outdoor School. Enthusiasm for the program has been consistently high.

Yearly Ratings Chart Each year, students gave the “fun” category either 9.5 or a perfect 10!

Program Activities Students participate in teacher-led activities in the following subjects: – Art – Language Arts – Music – Science – Social Studies

Activity Breakdown Most time is spent on activities related to Science and Social Studies.

Personnel Director Three Activity Programmers Four Teachers Ten High School Assistants 120 Students

Safety The school personnel all have Emergency First Aid certification. A staff doctor is on 24-hour call. All activities are monitored for maximum safety.
