What are we doing today? We are learning to Ask a question, and find the answer by creating a spreadsheet to help us What I’m looking for Good planning, clear thinking and fantastic figuring out This is because Finding out simpler ways to solve a problem, makes solving problems easier!

Your Task The Owl Delivery Service needs help to find out how many miles one of the owls travels during one night.

Working out Use this worksheet to draw the journeys that the owl takes Write the number of journeys next to each house

Formulas - Functions All calculations in Excel are Formulas We have Simple Formulas –E.g. = A4+A1+B3 We also have Function formulas –E.g. =Sum() Function formulas is Excel’s way of letting us carry out complex calculations easily

Functions =SUM(A5:A720) This will add up 715 numbers. Imagine if we had to enter each cell and then a + sign 715 times. =AVERAGE(A5:A720) Will find the average of those 715 numbers
