BOREAS: Balloon Sub-Orbital Radio Evaluation of Data TransmissionSlide 2 of 6 6/14/2006 Mission Overview: BOREAS shall provide a communication test platform for TOROID BOREAS shall provide new students with experience designing, building and testing hardware for near-space use

BOREAS: Balloon Sub-Orbital Radio Evaluation of Data TransmissionSlide 3 of 6 6/14/2006 SHOT II / UN-4 Connection: - BOREAS shall provide a communication test platform for TOROID by testing Communication equipment planned to be used in TOROID. The results of this test will help determine what changes need to be made for the Comm System in TOROID.

BOREAS: Balloon Sub-Orbital Radio Evaluation of Data TransmissionSlide 4 of 6 6/14/2006 SHOT II Design and Test Details: Radio, TNC, and Camera controlled by student designed controller Radio will transmit data from two temperature sensors and receive commands from ground control BOREAS designed to test communications Total Mass= Interface to Flight String based on previous SHOT flights

BOREAS: Balloon Sub-Orbital Radio Evaluation of Data TransmissionSlide 5 of 6 6/14/2006 Expected Results: BOREAS will demonstrate the communication capability of TOROID 1 roll of film will successfully be shot by onboard camera Temperature Logging from HOBO unit will match those received from sensors communicated through radio
