LGK Oct 23 Dust emissions The Chilean aerosol-cloud- climate component of VOCALS 2007

LGK Oct 23 The questions Which are the emission strengths and distributions of natural and anthropogenic emissions of aerosols and precursors over the area? (Emphasis on sulfur and dust) Which is the regional distribution of these aerosols? Which is the relative contribution of anthropogenic and natural sources ? How (much) do the anthropogenic sulfate aerosols affect cloud properties off the coast from Chile?

LGK Oct 23 Tools (1): models and computational power Multi-scale atmospheric chemistry and transport (MATCH) Rossby Center Atmospheric (RCA) MM5/WRF German MM5 Clusters at CMM/DGF

LGK Oct 23 Tools (2): measurements Chilean Air Force In situ characterization of activated CCN –CMM-DGF- CEAZA(Chile)/MISU-ITM (Sweden) Satellite observations of cloud droplet radii and aerosol burden (+AERONET) –CMM-DGF (Chile)/LOA (France) Air-borne observations of aerosol and cloud properties –CEAZA-CMM-DGF (Chile)/Karlsruhe FZK (Germany)
