Energy has multiple forms and can be changed from one form to another.
The sun is the major source of energy for the earth.
 A SOURCE OF ENERGY is where humans get energy from Example: solar energy, wind energy, oil, etc.

What is energy? O Energy is the ability to do work. O Just as food gives us energy to focus and play. O Different forms of “natural” energy O potential.
 There are three major forms of fossil fuels: coal, oil and natural gas. All three were formed many hundreds of millions of years ago before the time.
1 Student Objective To explain how energy transformations produce electricity To examine the energy source use in the United States Warm Up What energy.
Energy lights our life, powers our vehicles, and runs water in river, cooks our food. It warms and cools our homes, plays our music, and gives us.
Bellringer Last week we discussed energy sources that we could use for a car: Chemical (gasoline) vs. Light (Sun) Why would using a light source be much.

Fun with the Sun E.ES.11 Identify the sun as the most important source of heat! Amy McDonald Kimberly Frey

Engage 1) Go to the window 2) Have the children play hokey pokey in the sun 3) Ask them what they felt sun vs. shade

Explore Sun List observations from the sun. Shade List observations from the shade.

Explain Sun – Source of all energy. Heat - form of energy that warms objects. Energy – gives us the ability to do things.

List the ways that the sun’s energy can come to you! As a class write the children’s idea’s on the board : Example (i.e., food, wood, coal, oil, gas, light, plants, trees, heat, wind.)

Evaluate In groups, the students will share their sunbeam project with each other, and explain why they chose their sources.
