Click on CINAHL headings to search for possible terms to use. Start here even if you have obvious terms you want to use. Using CINAHL: the basics

Enter just a term or a short phrase. Then click BROWSE.

A list of formal terminology recommended by CINAHL is created. If you want to search with this term, click on the box… …then make sure this box says ‘and’ … …then click ‘Add’….

This screen then comes up. From here, you can do a search or… Search for another term to combine with your first term.

This is the results page. Here are few things you want to notice… How many results did you get? Too many means you may want to narrow your search. Read your article titles carefully. Sometimes, titles aren’t very useful, so click on them….

…read the abstracts very CAREFULLY. Sometimes, only one part of article is useful to you.

If you want the whole article, click on this button. It will always tell you how to get the article.
