Information Processing Operating Systems PowerPoint Assignment

You are asked to create a PowerPoint presentation to compare Windows and Linux operating systems. There is an example of this in the course text, page 59.

The Format of the Presentation This assignment does not require you to stand up and deliver a presentation. Rather you should imagine that this is a presentation which is ‘free-standing’ and can simply be ‘watched’ to gain information.

The Audience for the Presentation Your target audience is a group of year olds who have an interest in computers, but have little detailed knowledge of such things as operating systems and computer memory. You will therefore need to select your language and terminology carefully in order to make these slides understandable.

Constraints Your presentation must have at least 12 slides, but be no more than 16 slides in total.

Details You must have: A title slide with the name of your presentation, your name and the name of the tutor. A bulleted list An appropriate use of graphics.

Other Features Your presentation must also: Have a suitable background or design template Demonstrate the use of build features Demonstrate the use of slide transition

Referencing All material should be referenced appropriately within the presentation. The final slide should present the bibliographic details of the material which has been referenced in the previous slides.

Additional Material If you feel that some of the material needs commentary, and there is not enough room on the slides, you may use the notes pages to provide this additional material.

Submission Details The assignment should be presented on a floppy disk, carefully labelled with your name, the assignment name, the group number and the tutor’s name. Please state which version of PowerPoint you have used on the label In addition you will need to print off the slides two to a page. Submit to the School Office, FML 308 by 3.00pm Wednesday December 11 th 2002
