Progress Report Pedro Flores

Scintillator Case Set to hold four scintillator panels with instrumentation. Only three panels with instrumentation that are in operation. Awaiting four new panels being built by Jennifer.

Analysis Controls of the C.R.E. The “Coincidence level” option gives the number of detector hits required to accept this as a possible decay. The “Check energy of 2 nd pulse” feature allows the user to check to see if the second pulse is shorter in time than the first pulse. This may indicate less energy. The “Gate width” setting sets the window of time during which you will accept hits within a single detector for consideration as decay candidates.

Plot Controls of the C.R.E. The “Number of Bins” selection allows you to set the grouping amounts for the bars of the histogram. The “min and max” slots allows you to set the limits of the axes.

Fit Controls of the C.R.E. By activating the “Fitting” setting, the graph will have a line fit to the data chosen. Each of the other “Fit” options allow you to fit your line better and test any predictions you may have.

Why Is this Important? Knowledge gained about how data should be analyzed. Lets us change settings to see how they can affect data.

Next Steps Continue to learn how changing small details can manipulate graph. Learn to apply data analysis to the WALTA board data.
