Rakel K. Rohde Næss og Berit Bratholm: What Pedagogy will teachers need in the future? NERA 2008

Experiences from Lower Secondary School teacher training at Vestfold University College

What is LUT? A training programme for teachers of pupils aged A more thorough academic grounding 60 ECTS credits in one mandatory school subject (Norwegian or Mathematics) 60 ECTS credits in pedagogics (an increase from 30 ects to 60) 28 weeks of practice (college and associated schools making joint annual plans)

The Goal of the study: Professional Competence in pedagogy 1.Digital portfolios (Marius)Marius Authentic writing environment Motivating and stimulating Easy to control, coach and compare Constant changing and improvement of products, ie writing process Welcomes a variety of ways of writing and structuring texts

2.Learning experiences Guro: ”Here is another example, from my own days at school. The teacher had no structure on his teaching, and it was obvious (in retrospect) that he had no didactical planning of the lessons. One had to wonder whether the lessons were planned at all. This teacher had great knowledge of the subject itself, but was totally unable to convey this knowledge to us pupils. During lessons he just talked, and talked, but it was not possible for us to understand what he said. It was just incredibly demotivating to sit and listen to him. ” Bjørn Kristoffer: ”Based on my own experience from secondary school, I would say that there still is a lack of competence in cultural understanding among most teachers, and in the use of mass media as a tool for teaching. Being a teacher who understands and is able to utilise some of the culture and technology which engulf young people's every day life, is essential to maintain the youths' interest in the class room and towards the subjects. ”
