Valentine’s Day We celebrate Valentine’s Day the 14th of February. Valentine’s Day is the day of lovers. People give flowers, sweets, chocolates, postcards to their boyfriend or girlfriend.
Easter’s Day This year Easter’s Day is on 16th of April. At Easter we eat chocolate Easter eggs. We give Easter cards. We have egg hunts go on outings.
Mother’s Day Mother’s Day is on a different day each year. It is always on a Sunday and it is three weeks after Easter Sunday. People give cards or presents to their mothers.
BONFIRE NIGHT OR GUY FAWKES IS ON 5th NOVEMBER. PEOPLE CELEBRATE IT WITH FIREWORKS AND BONFIRES. PEOPLE EAT A LOT OF POTATOES, HOT DOGS AND HAMBURGERS. CHILDREN MAKE A MAN,WITH OLD CLOTHES AND NEWSPAPERS. THEY PUT THE MAN ON TOP OF THE BONFIRE. BONFIRE NIGHT
People play tricks and jokes on their friends. All tricks and jokes must finish by 12 o’clock midday. Newspapers invent stories to play tricks on people.
Halloween is on 31st October. People decorate their houses with pumpkins, ghosts, witches... Children are wearing masks and costumes. Children ask people: - “Trick or Treat?”, and people give them sweets. HALLOWEEN
Christmas Christmas Eve is on 24th December and Christmas Day is on 25th December. Christmas crackers contain a paper hat, a poem and a little present. Roast turkey and Christmas puding are part of the traditional Christmas dinner. Children put an empty sock for presents from Father Christmas.
New Year’s Eve New Year’s Eve is on 31st December and New Year’s Day is on 1st January. In London people celebrate New Year’s Eve Trafalgar Square. People make promises to eliminate bad habits during the new year. Children write their promises and give the paper to their parents.
