“FIT” What is it? Why is it important? Three components of “fit” “Skills” “Motivation” “Style” Exercise-Describe Your Ideal Job!

More employees lose their jobs because of “lack of fit” then for any other reason!

SKILLS Your knowledge and expertise (CAN you do this job?) Knowledge base-e.g. marketing strategies, management expertise, etc. Technical skills-e.g. accounting systems, software expertise, etc. Analytical skills-e.g. analyzing data, financial analysis, etc. Communication skills-verbal, written Interpersonal/relationship skills Teamwork skills-working well in teams

MOTIVATION What gets you going? (WILL you do this job?) Interest in the job (at the very least) Enthusiasm (preferably) Even “Passion” (but don’t fake it!)
