Emmy Noether March 23, April 14, 1935 Granted the second degree to a woman in the field of mathematics. Originally from Germany, Noether ended up the United States when Hitler took over and WWII began. Mary Emily Sinclair In 1908, Sinclair became the first woman to earn a Ph.D in Mathematics from the University of Chicago.
