MICE CM15 June 2006Jean-Sébastien GraulichSlide 1 DDAQ Pending Issues o Detector FEE o Software framework o Trigger o Data Storage Jean-Sebastien Graulich, Geneva

MICE CM15 June 2006Jean-Sébastien GraulichSlide 2 Detector FEE  Tracker AFE IIt under commissioning Firmware development to reduce the dead time is underway. Looks promising  TOF Baseline well defined (CFD) Time over Threshold Discriminator Option is cheaper. Should be adopted only if it’s also better. Test will start next week.  EmCal Still no validated baseline for charge measurement Tests are under way (Flash ADC). Readout OK, up to 25 MB/s Operation complying with MICE requirements but Generates a lot of data: ~ 30 kB/spill  CKOVI Just 8 channels… will use the same FEE as EmCal

MICE CM15 June 2006Jean-Sébastien GraulichSlide 3 Software framework  Agreement with ALICE Collaboration concerning the use of DATE Me and Vasili (doctoral student) will be trained to DATE in the ALICE DAQ group, working on a real project from Sept 06 to Feb 07. Our advantage Premium training Full support

MICE CM15 June 2006Jean-Sébastien GraulichSlide 4 Trigger  Preparing funding request for trigger electronics to Geneva university: 40 kEUR for: Trigger receiver modules Trigger logic modules Cables, connectors etc…  We have to decide whether we need Programmable Logic or not

MICE CM15 June 2006Jean-Sébastien GraulichSlide 5 Data Storage  Action is required ! Prepare requests to TIER 1 sites (CERN, Fermilab and KEK?) based on Malcolm’s presentation at DAQ Workshop 2 Don’t expect a small bill… 1 TB/day ~ 500 EUR/day
