Data Acquisition for Biofeedback System Using LabVIEW Characterization Presentation Performed by Rapoport Alexandra Supervised by Eugene Rivkin Technion Department of Electrical Engineering The High Speed Digital Systems Laboratory
General Concepts of Biofeedback Used for training of self control. The emotional state of a person is determined according to physiological parameters such as skin resistance, skin temperature, EEG, pulse, etc. The response of the system is given by visual presentation.
A/D Temperature and resistance detectors System Description Measurements to voltage transformation
Detectors Temperature detectors – one for each side. Possible implementation – by temperature dependent variable resistance. Skin resistance detectors – one for each side. Possible implementation – by inducing alternating current through skin and voltage measurement.
Medical Requirements Maximal current permitted - 5μA The detector part has to be isolated from the A/D and interpretation part
Hardware Specifications A/D A/D card used: LabVIEW card PCI 6035E 12 channels (4 channels used) 16 bit each Voltage limits: V
Software Specifications LabVIEW6 based interpretation
System Structure LabVIEW interpretation PCI 6035E 4x16 bit 4 channels (of 12) Temperature to Voltage Resistance to Voltage Two parts isolated
Physiological Issues Left and right side measurements differences. Time delays of parameters changing.
