Her specific areas of expertise include the development of informational literacies in young children, comprehension teaching and learning in the primary grades, approaches to addressing the needs of struggling reader-writers, and issues of equity in literacy education. She is also interested in efforts to improve the quality of research training in doctoral programs of education.
