Deformation and Convergence Properties of EDF UTK-ORNL DFT group

Microscopic Liquid Drop Two aspects:  Surface-symmetry coefficient varies wildly from one interaction to another  can we constrain it better by using data from deformed nuclei ?  Considering the theoretical (basis truncation) and experimental error, how reliable such a fit would be ?

Results HFB calculations: LD calculation: a ssym can be pinned down by calculations in deformed nuclei Excitation energy of SD minimum and fission isomer (HFB calculation) Convergence plot of HFB in HO basis Future work:  Wrap up the results  Remove shell contribution to “compare apples with apples”  Try to correlate a ssym values with results for E*  Would be nice to have values of a ssym for more forces
