Project Overview Mission Statement Design and construct all mechanical and structural aspects of a thermoelectric charcoal cook stove. The stove will utilize forced draft powered by thermo-electrics to significantly increase thermal efficiency and reduce emissions over a traditional Haitian stove. Sponsor HOPE = Haiti Outreach Pwoje Espwa

Needs Customer Need # ImportanceDescriptionComments/Status CN11Quick to startBetter than existing CN21Reaches boiling rapidlyBetter than existing CN32Able to reduce thermal power to simmer CN51Affordable for a typical Haitian vendor to purchase CN61Affordable to operate CN72Easy to operate CN82Intuitive to operate CN93Long life CN102Durability to withstand typical use, transport, and exposure CN112Repairable - parts swappable and with available skillsets and resources CN122Easy to transport CN131Uses forced air CN141Safe to operate both indoor and outdoor CN152Uses significant less fuel CN161Emits significant less harmful emissions CN172Meet or improve traditional cooking methods CN181Stove can be manufactured using available resources CN192Safe and easy removal of unburned charcoal CN202Uses little pumping power for desired airflow<1 watt pumping power CN21 2 Sustains boil as long as current stoves Cust. Need #: enables cross-referencing (traceability) with specifications Importance: Sample scale (1=must have, 2=nice to have, 3=preference only), or see Ulrich exhibit 4-8. Description: organize as primary and secondary needs (hierarchy) -- Ulrich exhibit 4.8 Comment/Status: allows tracking of questions, proposed changes, etc; indicate if you are meeting the need ("met") or not ("not met")
