Perspective from LMS vendor  Millennium system enhancements to support HKCAN project  Successes and future views

Objectives  Produce comprehensive search results when 2 (or more) valid forms of a Chinese name authority heading are searched  End-user should be able to search the form known to them, eg., 金庸 or Jin, Yong  Standards-based, following established international MARC norms

Other related features in Staff functions…  Auto-Romanization  Automatic romanization of Chinese characters to PinYin equivalents during record editing, importing and exporting  Automated authority control  Corrects Bibliographic record headings by changing the invalid form of the heading in the Bibliographic record to the valid form in the Authority record in MARC21 records

Future Views  Continue to refine and improve the end- user experience via robust enhancement process  Continue to evaluate developing and emerging standards and technologies, eg, MARC21, XML, Dublin Core with a view to:  Provide better tools and products to librarians as content providers  Enhance access to information to readers and researchers
