sin a thought, act or failure to act which damages the individual’s relationship with God venial sins mortal sins damage our relationship with God deliberately break our relationship with God

THE FALL Genesis - Garden of Eden Adam and Eve’s relationship with God was perfect until they disobeyed God by eating from the tree of knowledge This was the Original Sin This event is known as The Fall.

everything was perfect! Adam and Eve had all they needed until In GENESIS 3, everything was perfect! Adam and Eve had all they needed until THE FALL SALVATION Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross Humans GOD

Why is salvation important? Without salvation, humans are separated from God Because of salvation the way to heaven is again open for human beings Without salvation, there is no prospect of life after death Because salvation gives us a reason to live good lives

What does all this mean in practical terms? 1. Christians should have faith in God’s willingness to forgive 2. Christians should repent of their sins 3. Christians should forgive others 4. Christians should be reconcilers (build bridges between people.)

“Father, forgive them.” MARK 15 WHY REPENTANCE???? WHY FORGIVENESS???? “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” LUKE 11 “Father, forgive them.” MARK 15 “Repent and believe the Good News.” MARK 1

"Hurry down, Zacchaeus, because I must stay in your house today.” grumbling Zacchaeus HALF to the poor 4 times as much Jesus "Salvation has come to this house today, The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”.

1. "The most important commandment is this: `Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength’ The second most important commandment is this: `Love your neighbour as you love yourself.’” What did Jesus say? 2.

LOVING GOD Why???? God is our creator and gives us life God loves us so much that he sent Jesus to save us Jesus loves us so much he died to pay for our sins Jesus is the perfect example of God’s love Jesus lived a life of love - he healed the sick (Mark 1), showed concern for the poor.

LOVING OUR NEIGHBOUR Should be shown in a practical way : as in The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10) Should be shown to all as in The Parable of the Sheep and Goats (Matthew 25)
