The Emergence of a Political Economy of the Possible

Albert Hirschman Albert Hirschman (1915-) : Political economist specialized in development with particular focus on Latin America (e.g. the economic reasons for the emergence of authoritarian regimes in the sixties and seventies and for the return to democratic forms of governance in the eighties). He has traced the contrast between "interests" and "passions" in the history of social thought from Machiavelli to Tocqueville.

Zapatista Movement Zapatista Movement: Southern Mexican armed group that launched a rebellion on January 1 st, 1994, demanding indigenous rights and greater democracy, liberty, and justice

Eschatological Eschatological: Pertaining to eschatology, from Greek escatos (last) and logos (discourse), or the department of theological science concerned with ‘the four last things: death, judgment, heaven, and hell’.
