Presentation transcript:

CTP DCS luminosity monitoring A. Jusko, R. Lietava, J. Urban

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Outlook Trigger PVSS status Interaction record (Bunch luminosity) CTP DIM servers Trigger PVSS - next steps

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Trigger PVSS status VME crate control (on/off/sysreset) CTP and LTU counters monitoring –reading counters from (CTP + n*LTU) DIM servers. One datapoint reserved for 1 counter (~ 1000 counters), updated once per minute. 24 L L L2 counters included Datapoints are stored on local disk simple FSM: NOT READY if at least one of our VME crates (9) is off.

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 CTP counters

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Interaction records Interaction = 2 different interactions as two independent functions of (first) 4 L0 inputs are to be defined For each interaction type (1/2) and event ID (BC) are recorded Interaction record = list of interactions in an ORBIT, up to 254 interactions per ORBIT can be taken (if more, err flag is set)

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Luminosity per bunch CTP can provide: 2 interactions counts per bunch per interaction (2x bits integers) accumulated over several orbits (1 second at least) Time period corresponding to counts Time stamp (CPU time and/or orbit number) ? What else ? Data published by dim server (different from counters)

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 CTPCTP LDC CTP counters CTP IRs IR monitoring VME PVSS DDL /min CTP DIM servers

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Trigger PVSS - next steps Datapoints archive in DB (now stored in disk files) Improve FSM algorithm: voltages and temperatures are monitored but not connected with alarms/FSM states Include our FSM to global DCS (now working standalone) Develop IR part

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Back up

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Cross section and Luminosity if you know L, you can calculate σ if you know σ, you can calculate L CTP counters provides information about the number of interactions N(ΔT) preliminary design review; Cross section calculation

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 Interaction record

CTP DCS Luminosity monitoring 03/10/08 CTP Preliminary Design Review, Interaction signals logic  2 interactions can be defined  Interaction: any logical function of 4 L0 inputs
