Who is in charge? The Media Specialist handles administration of the lab. The Technology coordinator handles all Technology issues and will be informed by the Media Specialist. Teachers are responsible for their class behavior when they are in the lab. Community group leader is responsible for their groups actions in the lab. Remember, RESPECT the Technology Lab and it will be a great resource!

Classroom Arrangement Front 8 desks 30 chairs 25 laptops Podium Main Desk Print

Possible Activities Multimedia Projects Presentations Podcasting Video projects Research Word Processing Open Source Software and Learning Software Many, Many, Many possibilities!!

Equipment 8 tables 30 chairs 25 wireless laptops with microphones and headsets. Print station Podium Projector Desktop Computer

Ergonomic Issues This lab is designed to make the learner comfortable. Easy to see floor plan. Easy to see laptop screens. Comfortable chairs. Nice work area. This a great place to work and learn!

Safety Issues Fire and Tornado drill procedures are posted. No hazards in the room. Monitor all equipment. Room will be climate controlled. Keep the Technology safe and secure!

Instructional Resources All Instructional Resources should be available on the computers already. Any new resources, please ask the Media Specialist or Technology coordinator if they are possible to acquire. If it can be done or used, we will do it!

Instructional Resources - continued Teachers and Community groups – Select your materials and websites beforehand. Teachers, do not worry about Internet safety issues, the school filter blocks all inappropriate sites. Make sure your site works through the filter before you start your presentation. Research before you use the lab!

Copyright and Licenses Our school owns licenses for all software it uses. Group licenses were purchased for existing software and added to the laptops (ex. Photoshop). All are on file. If you want new software, see the Technology coordinator, open source software may be available. We highly encourage open source software and freeware because they are FREE!!!

Students with Disabilities Our school and this lab is fully accessible for any student. It is on the first floor, with no objects in the way. Equal access for all students is a premium. This lab will be able to help the beginner to most experienced Technology student. Any teacher can sign-up to use the lab and all students may use it.

Assistive Technologies We currently have oversize keyboards and mouse. Microphones and headsets. We have a screen enhancement device and digital touch screen already available. Let the technology director know, and it can be set-up ahead of time. Training is not needed because the equipment will just need set-up for our students. If something new is needed, let us know, we will find it! Money is budgeted for new technology

Problems Any issue see the Media Specialist or Technology Coordinator. What to do if there is a problem? Have a hard copy of your notes. Reschedule for a later date. If no Internet, try using the applications or software. Teachers should be prepared for a Plan B, just like they are in their own classroom. The lab will be checked a minimum of once a week to make sure it is operating smoothly.

Conclusion This is a wonderful new Technology Lab that we have in our school district! Ask for help if needed, be creative, and give your students the best experience possible with Technology.
