Imaging Retreat Sriram Vasudevan Biomedical Engineering Wayne State University

Background Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Areas of study included Imaging,Instrumentation,Electronic devices and circiuts Currently doing my Master’s in Biomedical Engineering Interests are in areas of biomedical imaging and Image processing. Projects Involved 1.Neural Correlates Of Violent Lyrics 2.Neural Bases Of Change Blindness

Purpose of projects Purpose The research is being performed to determine the areas of the brain that are turned on when humans listen to music with violent lyrics. This research will contribute to the general knowledge of the psychological effects that correlate to listening music with violent lyrics. Methods  In the first scan participants will hear to background music with violent lyrics edited out.  The second will involve music with violent lyrics. In control times participants will hear silence.  Fmri will be taken to determine neural substrates involved in aggression.

Results

Purpose of projects Change Blindness is failure to notice large changes in visual environment that should be normally noticed easily It may result from failures to rapidly integrate information in perceptual, attentional and executive circuits in the brain. Change may be detected from the fast correlated activity in these circuits. Purpose of the project is to gain knowledge of manner in which brain responds to change blindness and the neural bases involved in it.
