Finding A Job Topic # 6405A Ryan Stokoszynski

Placement Services Often available in places of education, these are widely used by students. Attributes of these include: –Career Interest Assessments are tests that determine what occupation could best serve one’s interests –Resume and application writing services –Job interview training

Employment Agencies Public Employment Agencies (ex. Michigan Works!) are operated by local, state, and federal governments. Private Employment Agencies offer the same services as their public counterparts, only they charge for their assistance.

Media Newspapers, magazines, radio, and television are all indispensable resources that usually contain help wanted ads.

Internet Job listings have become increasingly available on company websites. There are also job services available on the Internet, such as Yahoo! Jobs and Monster.

Word of Mouth Simple word of mouth with family and friends is the simplest way to obtain information about job opportunities available to you.

Direct Calling Direct calling involves actually speaking with potential employers, via telephone or personal visitations, about occupational possibilities with them.

Evaluating a Job Opening A job description usually indicates what duties are required to fulfill the job. Depending on whether how long one wants the job, job security plays an important part in the willingness to take a position.

Evaluating a Job Opening Ask if the said position requires or offers training opportunities. Discover any possibilities for advancement in the workplace and company.
