The unit focuses on depression and Seasonal Affective Disorders (S A D). Reading One discusses the causes, symptoms, and treatment of SAD. Reading two Features an Alaskan women suffering from SAD, plus information about where in The world SAD might be a problem. The companion unit in North Star: Listening and speaking deals with what People do to stay healthy and lose weight; it also deals with health problems and Natural remedies. Reading one is an article from a family medical –a book that people can use to get information about some medical conditions.

This reading can describe the following points; Information about reason why people have SAD Definition of SAD Names of good doctors to see if you have SAD Stories about people who have SAD Information to help you know if you have SAD Information about what to do if you have SAD Reading two is about Alice. She suffers from depression. She has seen several doctors over the past three years, but none of the doctors has been able to help her. Now she is seeing a new doctor.
