Inspirations for our “Grass Man”  Living Sculpture: “Turf Works”  Sculpture from the Lauderdale House in England

Building the Frame… Wood was cut in order to fit the correct proportions of a real person Then we nailed all the pieces together

And we had a VERY SKINNY man

Burlap & Twine, to hold the soil in place Annual rye grass seed (a lot of it) Miracle-Gro sphagnum peat moss (a mix between soil and peat moss) Other Materials…

Soil, Burlap, and Twine Next, we added burlap with the peat moss- soil mixture in it to give the man some “meat” on his “bones” We tied it up with twine to keep the soil from falling out

All tied up… We continued the process until the entire frame was covered with soil and burlap Next we seeded and watered the entire body

Wait for him to grow! Over the next few weeks we observed “The Man” We rotated him so that the sun could reach all parts of his body We trimmed the grass to the desired length
