The Story This book is about Tommy Thompson, a person who is trying to retrieve the gold from a sunken steamer called the SS Central America. He faces many problems for which all have a solution, for example finding the ship, money, opponents… The main problem is retrieving the gold that is deep in the see. Nobody has built a machine that can withstand the pressure of the sea and do any thing.

To find the ship they had to rent the Seamark I, a sonar device to find things in deep water. How sonar works Location of SS Central America. Team searching for ship Finding the SS Central America

DO NOT LOOK AT NEXT PAGE IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE BOOK/STORY SPOILED!!!

Help, Quick! After finding the ship and building the machine to get the gold there is a boat in sight towing a sonar scanner looking for the SS Central America! They have to bring back an artifact to prove that it is their ship to search.

Bringing up gold! After discovering how to get the gold, they discover the gold coins are worth three times as much if not scratched. So they find a way to bring it up. They spray the coins with wax that hardens around them to keep them scratch proof, then with an arm put these blobs of wax/gold in a drawer in the machine and bring the machine back up.
