Article of Faith 14: Divine Healing Article of Faith 15: The Second Coming Article of Faith 16: Resurrection, Judgment, and Destiny

Do you think people worry about the end of their life? Why, or why not? What would you do if you knew the end of the world was next week? How would it change your life? How close do you think we are to the end of time?

Does God always physically heal? What is the difference between physical healing and spiritual healing? Does God always spiritually heal? Why, or why not? Do you think people are as concerned with the second coming of Christ as much as they might have been 20 years ago? Why, or why not? Do you think most people think about where they go after this life has ended? Why, or why not?

Article 15: Second Coming of Christ We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come again; that we who are alive at His coming shall not precede them that are asleep in Christ Jesus; but that, if we are abiding in Him, we shall be caught up with the risen saints to meet the Lord in the air, so that we shall ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Heavenly Father will determine when the appropriate time arrives. He will signal Jesus to return bodily to earth accompanied by a host of angels. Jesus will appear in the eastern sky, visible to believers and nonbelievers. His return will mark the end of time as we know it. Resurrection, judgment, and eternal reward or punishment will await everyone who has ever lived on earth. The Bible indicates that Christ’s return will include these events:

Article 16: Resurrection, Judgment, and Destiny We believe in the resurrection of the dead, that the bodies both of the just and of the unjust shall be raised to life and united with their spirits-"they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." We believe in future judgment in which every person shall appear before God to be judged according to his or her deeds in this life. We believe that glorious and everlasting life is assured to all who savingly believe in, and obediently follow, Jesus Christ our Lord; and that the finally impenitent shall suffer eternally in hell. Revelation 20:11-15; 22:1-15

How important is belief in the Second Coming to believers? How important is belief in the Second Coming to nonbelievers? What do you think it means to “savingly believe in, and obediently follow, Jesus Christ our Lord” in order to live with Him forever? Why do you think Jesus has not returned yet?

Article 14: Divine Healing We believe in the Bible doctrine of divine healing and urge our people to seek to offer the prayer of faith for the healing of the sick. We also believe God heals through the means of medical science. James 5:13-16

Think about someone who needs physical healing and to pray for God’s touch in that person’s life. Think about someone who needs spiritual healing and to pray for God’s touch in that person’s life. Think about your own life and to pray for God’s touch in your life. Ask God to help you live every day in preparation for the second coming of Christ.
