Overview (Pg 2) Pre-Service Dates/Times March 17 – April 25 (6 weeks) Classes: one (1-2-hr) session/week x 6 weeks Outside class videos & assignments Class to be held in evenings, or Sundays On-Site Dates (17 days) Tue. May 20 – Fri. June 6 Departure and return to Philadelphia Philadelphia-Airport shuttle service as needed All students to meet in Philadelphia for departure
Eligibility Open to all SEAS students Open to other PENN students as space is available Open to all years, with priority given to rising seniors, then juniors, then others Graduating seniors eligible to apply; will be given same priority as rising seniors

On-Site Itinerary (tent.) 5/20 Depart Philadelphia 5/21 Arrival in Hong Kong; Brief orientation 5/ Prep work at HKPU; HK orientation/touring 5/ Shunde (includes tours) 5/31 Return to Hong Kong 6/1 Wrap up work in HK; Observe clinical in HK 6/2 Free day; Prepare to leave 6/6 Depart HK; Arrive in Philadelphia same day
Academic Details Pre-requisites basic biomechanics & physiology desirable, but not essential Academic Credit 2 cu EAS 297 Technology for Development: Global Biomedical Service (1 CU) - in SEAS, OK as Tech Elective EAS 296 Technology for Development: Cultural and Social Aspects (1 CU) - in SEAS, OK as Social Science EAS 296 to be registered in spring term; EAS 297 in fall term, as overloads 6-Week Pre-Service Cultural/social prep., clinical prep., trip prep. “Monitoring” essays & class discussion Required Submission Extensive photo-journal (paper or electronic presentation), reflective & technical Research Paper
