WHY FAMILY HARMONY PROGRAM?

ISSUES AFFECTING REFUGEES & HUMANITARIAN ENTRANTS  Legal issues- dealing with the police, DV and Child Protection System,  Financial management,  Family and relationship in Australia,  Accommodation,  Unemployment and mismatch b/t skills & occupation,  Education challenges (SydWest MSI , DIAC 2011).

CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO INTERGENERATIONAL CONFLICT  English language barriers,  Unemployment,  Lack of understanding of Australian legal system: Child protection, Centrelink benefits, (youth allowance and parenting payment).

COPING STRATEGIES: FAMILY HARMONY PROGRAM Community development model  Promotes effective communication within families,  Training of bi-lingual facilitators,  To facilitate sessions for parents and children,  Empowering the target group,  Promotes dialogue between parents and young people,  Apply win-win method to resolve conflicts,  Assist families to become more confidence.
