MISSION Teacher Professional Development Center Realize education policy dissemination of the Republic of Lithuania, guarantee possibilities for education and other sphere staff to improve professional competences of education according their demands integrating into changing and knowledge-seeking society.

OBJECTIVES  To improve professional qualification of educational staff and create conditions to prepare for the professional competence assessment.  To provide methodological support for the institutions and teachers, disseminate country’s and foreign teachers’ professional practice and innovations of community activities.  To coordinate and supervise organization and execution of State Language Testing for adult non-native speakers, teach non-native speakers state language and provide methodological support.  To provide continuous non-formal educational services for adult integration into knowledge society.

FUNCTIONS RResearch on in-service teacher training and demands in preparation for professional competence assessment. DDesign qualification improvement programmes and projects corresponding to the strategic regulations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania and demands of in-service teacher training. OOrganize events on in-service teacher training, preparing for the professional competence assessment and other issues of education. PPre-service and in-service consultant training according to the orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania. RResearch on the event efficiency of in-servive teacher training and preparation for professional competence assessment.

OOrganize events for the County Governors’ Administration and Municipality Specialists of Education. PPrepare methodological devices, accumulate and disseminate methodological materials designed by the teachers. Provide methodological support for the institutions of education, teachers, co- operate implementing methodological innovations. Disseminate information on the policy of education, Center’s programmes, methodological innovations and providers of qualification improvement services. TTrain lecturers for the dissemination of innovations of educational changes. OOrganize international events with the aim to acquaint with the good practice of foreign teachers. Disseminate good practice of Lithuanian educationalists on an international scale.

OOrganize events according to the orders and means of social partners. Create conditions for the other institutions to organize different events in the Center. DDesign State Language tests and teaching/learning devices, organize testing. Teach non-native speakers, deportees and refugees to State Language. Organize exams on State Language and Constitution Basics. Co-ordinate and supervise activities of District State Language Boards and the work of the Expert Commission of Adult State Language. CCo-operate with the other in-service teacher training institutions in the country, Ministry of Education and Science, Education Development Center, Centre of Information Technologies of Education, Centre for Educational Supplies and other social partners.

PPRC Material and Technical Resources  For teaching needs sq. m. in the main building of the Center:  23 auditoriums/30 working places each;  2 amfitheater auditoriums/120 working places/stationary computer equipment and interactive boards;  Conference hall/320 places;  4 computer rooms/66 working places/169 computers at the Center;  Library/funds – 50 thousand publications of 9500 titles/;  Reading room can serve 60 readers at the same time, 5 computerised working places with internet connection, printer and scanner;  2 exhibition halls/constantly exhibited methodological works of the teachers;  Sports hall big and spacious/available to the participants of the Center events;  Canteen can serve 120 visitors at the same time;  Copying machines on the 1st and 2nd floor lobbies for the participants of the events;  400 participants of the events can stay in the hotel situated next to the Center /cafe services/ ;  Car parking area next to the Center’s buildings.
