Non-welded Window Option Edgar L. Black IIT August 15,2003

Non-welded windows design compliance with physics & Safety requirements Permits individual window geometry verification for acceptance Can be pressure/vacuum tested without alteration of their structural integrity Requires minimum time for assembly and disassembly Allows assembly to dissimilar materials Provides an ease access for changing the absorber media Windows can be reused for unlimited times

Non-welded windows assembly

Absorber Vacuum window, seals detail

Vacuum window ring seal detail

Vacuum window ring seal compressed

Non bolted or welded simplified installation

Locking arrangement

Work required for non-welded windows Design and fabricate a prototype model representative of window and chamber flanges for testing the seals options He leak test seal options at required safety pressures and temperatures Test the wedge locking mechanism same as above Assembly with dissimilar material and repeat test This work shall be perform prior to the final design and fabrication of windows.
