HOW TO RESPOND TO REVISIONS Putting yourself in the editor’s shoes Dr Melissa Parris School of Management & Marketing Editor-in-Chief, Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal
Upon receiving reviews If not sure what is required or there are conflicting views from reviewers ask –even better, suggest the approach you are planning to take Confirm/propose timeframe for return Keep editor updated if delays, etc.
Doing revisions Consider the “spirit” as well as the content of the reviews Don’t necessarily have to do everything asked – but will need to justify decisions Ensure same proof-read/quality-check of revised manuscript
Upon resubmission Be clear in the covering letter how you have addressed concerns: –and make sure you have done it! –include page numbers/examples to point to where revisions have been made
