Background Began in 1999 to deliver the Millennium Volunteers Pilot Project. In 2003 developed University Certificate in volunteering and Community Action and began to embed volunteer in the curriculum became finalists in the THES Awards for Support for International Students through providing language enriching volunteering experiences in the community validation BA (Hons) Active Citizenship and Volunteer Development, plus portfolio of University Certificates and electives 2008 Validation of foundation Degree in volunteering and Community Action University Certificate in Volunteering for International Students Volunteering has now become part of the ‘Futures’ Personal Development Programme for all students at UCLan.

Works with young people aged 16 – 24 Provides accreditation for 100 and 200hrs volunteering Enhances CV
Touch Project Peer Led Health Promotion in the community and schools Addresses issues relating to substance use, teenage conception, drinking and STIs. Funded through Preston PCT Developing projects in Eastern Europe relating to HIV and AIDS Award winning
HIGHER EDUCATION ACTIVE COMMUNITY FUND Engages Students in community action. Enhances skills for employability Engages the University with the Community
Centre for Citizenship Develops social cohesion within a school context Brings students into the school Provides extra curricular activities and accreditation Referred to as best practice in the recent Government report into cohesion and integration Our Shared Future Works with young people 12 – 15 on the young Citizen Programme
